Patients undergoing chemotherapy are often isolated to reduce the risk of getting an infection from someone in their personal space. 

This must be done because cancer patients receiving radiation have weakened immune systems. 

 

This photo of her father waiting outside of her mother's room during one of these radiation treatments has touched the heart of so many online and the caption Mackenna provided is equally touching...

 

"My mom has to stay in her room in isolation for her cancer radiation so my dad set up a desk at her door to keep her company and I'm crying," Mackenna wrote in a tweet that has since gone viral. 

 

This picture hit me at the core and thousands of people online are reacting to this shot of two people going through the struggle of their lives. 

People immediately came to Mackenna and her family's support. 

 

Mackenna's post resonated with those who themselves were experiencing a similar battle with this horrible disease. 

 

Even someone else with thyroid cancer, like Mackenna's mother. 

 

Another man going through the same situation also appreciated the image a great deal. 

 

Mackenna does have an amazing father and Twitter definitely acknowledged this.
